The final stage of the Belarusian winter car race Hot Ice took place 27 February at the stadium Zaria. The winner of the championship is Aleksey Kopiak.

The 37th European skiing race took place at the Olympic sports complex Raubichi. 36 teams from 23 European states, overall 1,040 people, took part in the competition. The Belarusian team was the most numerous – over 600 people.

The Belarusian Championship of Unarmed Self Defense on the prize of the first Belarusian president took place at the sports complex Uruchie on 19 February. The organizer of the championship is the Belarusian Federation of Unarmed Self Defense. 150 sportsmen from eight countries (Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Estonia and Belarus) took part in the championship. The Belarusian team won the most medals.

The National Art Museum concluded the contest on the best design of the entrance ticket. The British American Tobacco gave a check of BYR 500 million to the winner, designer Svetlana Zaskevich from Minsk. The sketch of the entrance ticket, made be Svetlana Zaskevich, portraits the prominent architecture of the museum building. The visitors especially liked the sketch of another designer from Minsk, Igor Ishkiniev who was given a check of BYR 100,000. The special prize, an art album, was sent to schoolteacher Sergey Bobrov from Brest region. Starting from 20 March, visitors of the National Art Museum will see the entrance tickets, made by Svetlana Zaskevich.

The rally to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the withdraw of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held in Minsk on the Island of Courage and Sorrow. The deputy head of the Belarusian President’s Administration read out the address of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to veterans who fought in Afghanistan.

Several dozens of the Youth Front activists took part in an opposition rally at Oktiabrskaya Square in Minsk on 14 February.The youth opposition presented the “colors of the Belarusian revolution” – yellow and blue, the colors of the EC flag.
